How to Craft an Article Report in a Correct Way
When you are assigned an article report, you will need to ask your teacher about the guidelines that the paper must adhere to. There are different kinds of reports, so your professor should explain what exactly is expected from you in this particular case.
Depending on the type of article and the report itself, you may need to conduct some additional research to find more evidence that will support your arguments. You will need to take a stance on the issue and look for materials that will allow you to persuade the readers that your position is the right one.
There are three stages for writing a good report:
- Creating a rough draft:
At this stage, you will need to identify the reasons that make your report valuable and set the goals you want to achieve through this paper. When the purpose of the report is defined, you will know which direction you should follow to make the paper perfect.
Finish your preparation by creating an outline that will become the basis of the paper.
When you start writing, you don’t have to follow the outline to the letter. You may be able to come up with more efficient ways to express some thoughts when you work, so do not be afraid to experiment.
It will be best if the rough draft ends up being longer than required.
This is a stage where you can perfect your draft by cutting out all the parts that seem unnecessary, and rearranging the rest of the paragraphs in a most efficient manner. If the overall paper doesn’t seem to be good enough, you may need to add a more effective paragraph or change your arguments.
By the end of this stage, you should have a perfect mistake-free report on your hands.
In the vast majority of cases, reports have the following structure:
You can use jargon and professional terms if the report is technical and written specifically for an audience that is proficient in the subject. If your paper is aimed towards the general population, you should reduce the use of these words to a minimum. If they are unavoidable, provide a clear definition for each term.
Do not forget to explain the significance of the report and the conclusions that the readers should draw from it. It’s best to do this either at the end of the body section of the paper or in the conclusion.
